‘Interior Worlds’ 1963 – Present
A show of artists who have taught at Central Saint Martins over the last 60 years.
Interior Worlds is a group show at Gallery46 until 10 May 2026 curated by Alexis Panayiotou, Alex Schady and GALLERY46 and featuring 24 artists and practitioners who who have taught at Central Saint Martins on BA and MA Fashion and Fine Art from the 1960s right up to the current day.
Incorporating painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics and textiles, artists exhibit new works and site specific pieces from their individual practices offering audiences a unique opportunity to experience the interplay of these different creative voices.
Central Saint Martins formally Saint Martin’s School of Art and Central School of Art and Design, is celebrated for its significant impact on the fashion and creative industry, and is renowned for producing many influential designers and industry leaders. Alumni include Gilbert and George, John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Sarah Burton, Stella McCartney, Stephen Jones and Jarvis Cocker. The expertise and dedication of its tutors plays a crucial role in shaping the next generation of innovators. These educators contributions to the exhibition are particularly valuable, providing an insight into their wealth of experience, knowledge and mastery as evidenced through the multiplicity of artistic outputs on display.
Alexis Panayiotou, curator, is a fine artist and drawing tutor based in London. He is recognized for his innovative approach that merges garment-making techniques with traditional painting methods demonstrated in ‘He’s Moved On’ 2026.
Molly Grad is an interdisciplinary artist and writer, working across sculpture, textiles, painting and public interventions presents her installation ‘A Needles Eye’, 2026 on the outside front 3 floors of Gallery46.
Julie Verhoven is an academic at both Central Saint Martins and The Royal College of Art. As illustrator and designer she has collaborated with Louis Vuitton and Versace. Her work has been exhibited at The Hayward and ICA and is held in the Victoria and Albert permanent collection. ‘Hire Me Julie’, 2026, comprises a Doormat, Installation-video, notice board and business cards.
Natalie Gibson shows ‘Cat’ inspired vibrant prints and textiles. Natalie is a peer of David Hockney, Peter Blake and Zandra Rhodes, and received an MBE for services to fashion in 2014. She has been teaching print at Central Saint Martins for over 40 years and can count John Galliano among her students.
Anne McCloy is an interdisciplinary artist and alumni of Central Saint Martins and Goldsmiths, New Contemporaries 2023 and British School at Rome 2024. McCloy shows a triptych of new paintings ‘Three Studies (L’Atelier Rouge Dearg) 1,2,3’, 2026, exploring themes of mysticism and memory. In her next project ‘Salon of The Spectacle’ she exhibits and curates a group show and series of events at Rose Lipman Building, Donlon Books and Everybody Lives at Haggerston as part of Hackney Art Week 4 – 14 June 2026.
